The Last of Us Part 2 is one of the most anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusive from Naughty Dog. The Last of Us set a new benchmark in storytelling, gameplay and character development so the fans are excited to see how the developers can tackle a sequel to one of the highest rated game on last generation consoles.
Recently, Neil Druckmann was part of a panel at the PlayStation Experience 2017 convention where he was asked some questions about the state of development for the game. There was a lot more background information shared in the panel although the team was careful not to leak any potential major details in regard to the gameplay or story.
Regarding the state of development for the game, Neil Druckmann gave a vague 50 to 60 percent figure stating that they are currently in a part of the development which is the most tricky for the team. While they have the general story all set, they are still working on the design for many of the narrative elements although some of the levels are finished while many others are still being worked on.
Druckmann also confirmed that the next time we will see The Last of Us Part 2 will be at E3 2018. The panel host did mention that she was shown some of the game behind closed doors and it smashed her expectations, although she didn’t reveal any details for it. Neil Druckmann called it a rough build and stated that a lot of work still needs to be done hence they will have the next major showcase at E3 2018.
The Last of Us Part 2 was revealed at PSX 2016 although there is no confirmed release year for it. Hopefully E3 2018 will provide an official release year for the game.
