Mario Kart 8 Debuts At Number 1 In Japan But Wii U Fails To Get Significant Hardware Boost

Media Create and Famitsu have released their weekly hardware and software sales for last week in Japan, and these sales figure show that Mario Kart 8 was a smash success in Japan, selling more than 300k units within 3 days of its debut week. Sadly, despite such high profile release, the bump to Wii U hardware sales was not that significant and the sales were barely up 10k compared to its previous week.

Mario Kart 8 is the long awaited sequel for the blockbuster series. It was originally announced for last year but later delayed to May 2014. It is out now worldwide and has apparently sold more than 1.2 million units so far (including Japan).
