Marvel’s Spider-Man was confirmed to release in September for the PS4. The game was officially announced at E3 2016 and will finally get a release on September 7th exclusively for the PS4.
GameInformer are currently doing a coverage on Spider-Man and one of their editor, Andrew Reiner, has taken it to Twitter to answer some of the questions asked by his followers.
He confirmed that the game doesn’t offer a dynamic time of day cycle, which is the norm for most of the open world games. The time of day instead changes with the mission and depending on your progress in the story. This is something that was also used in inFamous: Second Son where the developers implemented a manual time of day cycle letting users change it whenever they want through the options menu.
Time of day appears to be predetermined for missions and moments.

They change the time in the story missions.

I don’t believe it does as you are exploring. Maybe it will be night after a night mission? We don’t have that answer yet.

Nighttime happens. I don’t think there’s a day/night cycle. Just predetermined time and weather for specific missions and moments.

While this is a disappointment considering the potential of the open world in Marvel’s Spider-Man, it can also turn out to be fine if the developers implement it properly. It will also let the developers focus on crafting a more gorgeous looking open world by pre-determining most of the lighting condition for a given mission.
Marvel’s Spider-Man will launch exclusively for the PS4 on September 7th. It is being developed by Insomniac Games and will be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
