PS4 exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man is pretty good, but did you know that its also the most critically acclaimed Spidey game?
According to review aggregator Metacritic, Insomniac’s take on the fan favorite super hero, currently rated at 87, is the highest score a Spider-Man game has gotten yet. The closest is Activision developed Spider-Man for the original Playstation, but that score is based off just 19 critics, while the latest game’s score is currently based off 94 critics, giving a more accurate indicator of its quality.
Super hero games seem to have made a resurgence in quality starting with the Rocksteady developed Batman: Arkham series. Arkham City has a metascore of 96, making it one of the highest rated games of all time. In fact its the joint highest rated game of last generation along with Uncharted 2, beaten out only by Grand Theft Auto V.
Probably a good sign for publishers to allow developers creative freedom to develop their own take on a super hero instead of creating low budget movie tie ins that was the trend recently.
In recent news about the game; we found out what’s included in the first three patches, the latest update adding a new unexpected suit and demand for the game being so great that retail giant Amazon just couldn’t keep up.
What did you think of the reviews? Did they convince you to get the game or were you already planning on getting it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
