At E3 2016, we learned that Mass Effect Andromeda would take place long after the events of the original Mas Effect trilogy, and that the new protagonist this time around would be named Ryder, a Pathfinder who could either be a male or a female.
Now, at the PlayStation meeting held yesterday, EA not only released some official gameplay for the game, but also provided some new details about protagonist Ryder. Apparently both the male and female player characters in the game are siblings, and whichever one the player chooses to play as, the other character will also exist somewhere in the game world.
Another interesting piece of information is that the character wearing the N7 armor in the Official E3 2015 Announce Trailer for Mass Effect Andromeda, has now been revealed to be the father of the Ryder siblings.
@nerfedllamas Yep, on N7-Day we'll show a new trailer and officially open the doors to the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe.

As seen above, the developers have also mentioned that new information, alongside a new trailer for the game, will also be coming on N7 day, 7th of November 2016.
Mass Effect Andromeda is set to release some time in Q1 2017 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PC. The game will take place in a brand new setting and will task players with discovering a new planet for the human race to colonize.
