Mega Man 11 Development Team Was Comprised of Just 40 People

Mega Man 11 is a brand new entry in the long-running franchise that was released after almost 8 years.  The development team for it was relatively small compared to most other major games.

In a new interview of Kazuhiro Tsuchiya, the producer of Mega Man, it was revealed that Mega Man 11 was originally conceived as a concept in Spring 2016. It was the idea of Koji Oda, a veteran producer at Capcom, to make a brand new Mega Man. During this time, the Legacy Collection was released and it went on to sell more than 1 million copies worldwide thus fast-tracking the development of a brand new Mega Man game.

Tsuchiya was tasked with performing the market research for a new Mega Man and he concluded that fans wanted “a new, full-fledged entry in the original Mega Man series.” Thus this led to the start of development for Mega Man 11, which has finally released this month.

When asked about the development team, he said that there were “Around 40 people. A rather small number compared to recent development teams.” This shows that the budget wasn’t that large but the game has turned out to be great as you can read in our review, so this bet paid off for Capcom.

Mega Man 11 is available now for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
