Metal Gear Solid V: Gamescom 2015 gameplay features a tour of the Mother Base

Konami has just shared a brand new gameplay demo for its forthcoming stealth-action game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. A while back, the game’s director Hideo Kojima had mentioned plans to do a gameplay walkthrough of the Mother Base. This particular video is just that, as it focuses on the various aspects of the Mother Base and how it aids Snake in recruiting and developing his military installment.

The gameplay footage can be seen in the video below.

Some of the prominent features of the Mother Base are explained below.

R&D Platform

The video shows an R&D platform, which is connected to the command center via a bridge. As the name implies, this platform houses the R&D team, which works around the clock to develop new weapons and items. Therefore, it’s wise for players to invest in the development of this area of the Mother Base.

Combat Unit Platform

The combat unit is comprised of fireteams capable of completing a variety of task. Players can take advantage of them by sending them on dispatch missions. Some of these missions will resonate with Snake’s solo missions, in turn aiding him on the battlefield.

Support Platform

The support platform houses your support team, which can provide various forms of backup while you’re on the front line. This includes the delivery of supply drops, ammo, or even vehicles.

The latest entry in the Metal Gear series will be the last to be directed by legendary game designer, Hideo Kojima. The game is scheduled to hit stores early next month on September 1.
