Metal Gear Survive Boxart Confirms Always Online Requirement

Metal Gear Survive is an upcoming spin-off based on the popular Metal Gear Solid V. This is the first Metal Gear game from Konami after Kojima, who is the creator of the series, left Konami once Metal Gear Solid V was released in 2014.

Metal Gear Survive is an attempt from Konami to take the resources and engine of Metal Gear Solid V and create a co-op focused survival game around it. One of the main requirement for this is the need to always have online since the game features an integrated online mode that clashes with the single player campaign.

Fans were skeptical of the Always Online requirement however the final boxart of the game has now confirmed that internet connection is needed in order to play the game.

Metal Gear Survive was announced back in 2016 however the game hasn’t managed to get much media attention until recently, when it was confirmed to release in early 2018. There is an open beta of the game scheduled to start on January 18th for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Metal Gear Survive will be available on February 20th for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game is being developed and published by Konami.
