Metroid Prime 4 development is being rebooted and the game will be now developed by Retro Studios, as announced by Nintendo.
Metroid Prime 4 was revealed last year and the earlier rumors said that the game will be developed by Bandai Namco. This was never officially confirmed in any capacity by Nintendo but the game was also never revealed with just a short logo being shown in the teaser.
Today, Nintendo has shared the news that Metroid Prime 4 will be completely rebooted from scratch and now the original developer Retro Studios, will work on this new sequel as confirmed by Nintendo.
The video doesn’t go behind the details so we will never know why this decision was taken by Nintendo. The only thing that they mention is that it didn’t meet their expectations so they are restructuring and reevaluating their plans for it.
Still, this now means that Metroid Prime 4 is far off and likely won’t launch anytime soon for the Nintendo Switch. We are possibly looking at several years of development ahead now that the game has started off again.
