Metroid Series Producer Says No Plans To Remake Super Metroid Or Metroid Fusion

Yoshio Sakamoto is an executive producer at Nintendo EPD. He is a key member of the Metroid development team and was recently involved with the remake of Metroid 2 for the Nintendo 3DS.

Yoshio Sakamoto was interviewed by Spanish website Hobby Consolas for Metroid 2 remake that Nintendo developed in collaboration with Mercury Steam. In this interview, the producer also talked about any potential remakes for more Metroid games.

When asked about a remake for Super Metroid (Super Nintendo) or Metroid Fusion (Game Boy Advance), he said that they currently have no plans to do them. Mercury Steam has already worked on a remake for Metroid 2 so those who were hoping to see them continue this trend might be disappointing.

Metroid fans have a lot to look forward to with the inclusion of Ridley in Super Smash. Bros Ultimate and the upcoming Metroid Prime 4 for the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo hasn’t shared any details about Metroid Prime 4 but it is slated to release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch and currently in development. Rumors point towards Bandai Namco being one of the developers but there is no confirmation from Nintendo so far.
