Microsoft has quickly denied widespread claims that Xbox Live’s ‘down time’ over the weekend was caused by a hacker group.
Xbox Live experienced several hours of down time over the weekend. MS says, this was due to a “networking misconfiguration during routine maintenance” and not a hack attack as widespread rumors suggested.
Speaking to Geekwire, Microsoft said: “The Xbox LIVE service outage on 13 April resulted from networking misconfiguration during routine maintenance and was in no way related to false claims of hacking the service.”
The statement made by Microsoft to Geekwire has debunked any claims that the group known as Anonymous had anything to do with the online service going offline.
