Xbox One comes without headset; Microsoft explains why

The Xbox One will not be bundled with a headset as announced earlier. Microsoft has issued a statement on the matter.

“Each Xbox One includes the new Kinect sensor, with a highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences. For gamers who prefer a headset, we have a variety of offerings that you can find on the Xbox Wire.”

The Xbox One headset will be sold separately. It’s price has not been announced, but it should be around $59.99. It is confirmed as having mono sound, a directional mic, volume control and a mute button.

I don’t like the fact that Kinect is being preferred over the headset. The Xbox 360 systems used to be bundled with headsets, just like the PS4 will be. It’s clear that gamers greatly require it for online play, and to sometimes ensure that no one else gets disturbed while they’re playing.
