Microsoft Is Ready To Get Fortnite Cross-Play Between Xbox One And PS4

Fortnite is one of the most popular game these days thanks to its free to play Battle Royale mode. The game is available on the PS4, Xbox One and PC however cross-play between these platforms is a dream for now. In a recent update, it was confirmed that Fortnite will be getting cross-play with the PC and Mobile version for the Xbox One.

As the confirmation of cross-play with PC and Mobile was shared by Epic Games, fans begin to ask the Microsoft executives to get cross-play extended to the PS4 version. The response of Microsoft executives and even Epic Games themselves pretty much confirmed that Sony is the one who is stopping it from happening, so it remains to be seen what they have planned for now.

This is not the first time Microsoft has stepped up to the call of fans demanding cross-play with the PS4 version. They have already allowed it in Rocket League with Nintendo Switch version of the game, so it is not surprising to see them more open about it. Compared to Microsoft, Sony is rather strict when it comes to allowing cross-play with its competitor platform.

Aside from Fortnite and Rocket League, games like Street Fighter V and Final Fantasy XIV also offer cross-play between PS4 and PC, however there is no console or portable system from Nintendo or Microsoft that has cross-play supported with PS4.
