Microsoft reveals official 2TB external hard drive for Xbox One

Given the limited storage available in Xbox One consoles that come with a 500GB internal hard drive, managing data can become excruciatingly difficult for gamers. Unlike with the PS4, the hard drive isn’t upgradable either. It was for this purpose that the console manufacturer added support for external hard drives via a firmware update.

In order to encourage the use of external hard drives with the console, Microsoft has now announced an Xbox branded 2 Terabyte USB 3.0 hard drive for the Xbox One. For this purpose, the software giant has partnered with well-known hdd manufacturer Seagate. The officially licensed hard drive will be available later this month for $110.

A bit on the pricey side of things, then, given that a hard drive with equivalent storage space typically costs in the range of $80-90. Though, if aesthetics is your thing, this licensed Xbox hard drive would certainly look nice sitting right next to your Xbox One.

Let us know what you think about this licensed hard drive for the Xbox One in the comments below.
