Microsoft skipping Tokyo Game Show this year

We all know the Xbox One isn’t selling that well in Japan and by the look of things Microsoft seems to have lost confidence in the region as well. Microsoft Japan revealed recently that they won’t be attending Tokyo Game Show 2015 which is being held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba from September 17 to 20. Tokyo Game Show 2015 is Asia’s biggest gaming conference and Microsoft not attending says a lot.

Microsoft Japan’s Masayuki Inoue issued the following statement:

2015 will continue to provide an attractive game line-up, exclusive titles included,

This year, Microsoft will not exhibit the Tokyo Game Show, but we’re making various preparations to deliver the latest Xbox news to fans and media. We will provide an update as soon as we can.

Sales of the Xbox One are horrible in Japan and nowhere close to its direct competitor – the Playstation 4. In June the console was just selling 100 units per week compared to around 11,000 of the PS4 (monthly figure).
