Minecraft: Boss Update Announced For Pocket Edition and Windows 10

With both the Desktop and the Console versions of Minecraft out of the way, we now move on to the major announcements made at Minecon 2016 regarding the Pocket Edition and Windows 10 version of the game.

The new update, referred to as the Boss Update, brings with it mobs already present in the other versions of the game such as the Elder Guardian in the Ocean Monuments, and the Wither which now appears in “revamped fighting form.”

But perhaps the biggest addition with this update is the inclusion of Add-Ons. This is a tool that allows players to utilize a greater level of diversity and customization in their games by allowing them to remix mobs, switching models, textures and behaviours. So basically, in theory, you could allocate the behaviours of a Creeper to a horse, causing it to take on the movements and self-destruct capabilities of the former.

More features can be found below:

  • You can now use slash commands! Summon things, set the time, change the weather, teleport to places, change blocks and much more.
  • Realms now supports importing and exporting worlds! Oh gosh!
  • Xbox Wireless controller support has been added to Gear VR Edition and Windows 10! And Oculus Touch support is coming to VR-lovin’ Windows 10 players too!

You can take a look at Mojang’s Add-Ons page for the game for more details about this new feature.
