In keeping up with their practice of releasing free expansions for Halo 5: Guardians, 343 Industries has now announced the latest of these updates. It’s named Monitor’s Bounty, and it is Halo 5: Guardian’s ninth free expansion.
On top of the usual string of new maps and weapons, such as the new Grenade Launcher, the update will also add two major new features known as the Custom Game Browser and the Observer mode.
The new Custom Games Browser enables players to search and join games that are in progress from the main menu, provided that these games are set at the necessary privacy settings when they are created in the lobby. An update to the Content Browser also allows you to find a map or mode, and be able to browse for in progress custom games from that file’s options.
Observer Mode enables users in a Custom Game lobby to enter the match as an observer, allowing them to watch the match unfold in real time. There is also a prototype build for an Observer HUD, that shows the status and weapon details for all players in a map.
The update will also include a brand new feature that will allow players to gift REQ packs to other players. In order to promote the use of this feature, 343 Industries has given each player a free Gold Gift Pack in their REQ Inventory that can only be gifted to others.
Alongside the release of the new Monitor’s Bounty expansion, the developers have also announced the Voices of War REQ Pack for the game. This pack costs $9.99, and will include three new announcers, namely Spartan Buck (Nathan Fillion), 031 Exuberant Witness, and Yabda the Merciless.
All of the above mentioned features are set to hit Halo 5: Guardians on 8th December, 2016, on the Xbox One and the PC. You can read up on the update in detail here.
