The Last of Us Remastered has been officially confirmed for the PS4. Along with a Summer 2014 release window, Naughty Dog have also confirmed that The Last of Us on PS4 is going to target 60 fps. Naughty Dog’s Eric Monacelli has also shared more details about the game on the official PlayStation Blog.
Eric Monacelli explained that working on the PS4 hardware has allowed them to “evolve and upgrade the visuals and a multitude of technical aspects of the game.” He also promises that just like other games of Naughty Dog, this one won’t be any different in term of its tech. “We love setting challenging technical hurdles at every step – and this is no different.” said Eric.
Eric Monacelli also cleared any doubt that this won’t be a simple HD remaster, and explains that a lot of effort is gone in making this remastered version for the PS4. “We’re putting a lot of effort into this to make it really a remastered version.”
We don’t know much about any potential special edition yet, but you can rule out the post pandemic edition for now, as Monacelli explained that it was a “limited run.” He also confirms that the game will ship with the Left Behind DLC already available on the disc, and that the new difficulty, that was recently added in an update, will be included for the game on the PS4.
As of now, we know that The Last of Us is going to run at 1080p on the PS4. It will feature upgraded textures, higher quality character models, improved lighting and shadows. Neil Druckmann has confirmed on twitter that they are going to target 60 fps for The Last of Us on the PS4. Eric Monacelli shared the same comments saying that “We are targeting 60fps.”
