Natus Vincere Win StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2

Yesterday, we saw the conclusion of StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2. This was the last event before The International 6 begins, and the event featured some action-packed matches.

StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2 started this Thursday on July 21st, and ended yesterday, on July 24th. The event featured eight teams, six of which are participating in The International. The tournament started of by Na’Vi defeating Fnatic 2-1 in a best of 3 series. The defeat knocked Fnatic down to the lower bracket, where they defeated Chinese team CDEC Youth 2-1, Digital Chaos 2-1, and F.R.I.E.N.D.S (Formerly known as Virtus.PRO) 2-0, making it to the Losers bracket final.

Meanwhile in the winners bracket, Na’VI exerted their dominance against TI5 champions, Evil Geniuses, by beating them 2-0. Na’Vi dominated the series by defeating Evil Geniuses in 28 minutes in the first game, and in just 15 minutes in the second game. Na’Vi finally fell to Team Secret, as the new Team Secret roster executed their game plan with perfection, knocking the CIS team to the Losers bracket final. Team Secret progressed to the Grand final of StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2.

In the Losers Bracket final, Na’Vi faced Fnatic once again. Na’Vi defeated Fnatic 2-0 and advanced to the Grand Final of StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2, where they would face Team Secret once again.

In the Grand Final, Team Secret took game one, fairly easily, due to their amazing itemization. In game two, fans saw some of best DotA being played at the event. The intense match concluded with Na’Vi winning their first game of the series. In game 3, Team Secret went for the Drow Strat, while Na’Vi pulled out the Magnus and Ember Spirit combo which allowed Na’Vi’s carry player, Ditya Ra, to put out some insane damage which Team Secret could not handle. Na’Vi secured game 3, and needed just one more win to secure their victory at StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2.

In the final game, Na’Vi continued their aggressive play style, constantly harassing Team Secret’s carry player, EternalEnvy, not giving him any room to farm. Game 4 was one of the most one-sided games of the event, ending in only 18 minutes. Na’Vi took home the grand prize of $135,000. This is Na’Vi’s first tournament win since November, 2014, where they won the DotA 2 Champions League Season 4.
