With the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda creeping ever closer, we have hardly ever gotten a lengthy look at the title’s gameplay. But at the recently concluded Game Awards 2016, Bioware revealed a lengthy Gameplay Trailer for the game.
The trailer is shown from the perspective of Sara Ryder, and starts off with your ship, The Tempest, landing at an unnamed planet outpost. We get a look at some basic dialogue options while interacting with an NPC, with a Renegade interrupt thrown in for good measure.
The world is also a lot more open world this time around, with players able to drive the 6-wheeled Nomad on the planet’s surface. At one point the player encounters enemies while driving and just hops out of the vehicle to engage in combat.
Speaking of combat, it is much more open ended this time around as well. Enemies are scattered all around the open playground, with Ryder darting around using Biotic Charge to both attack them, as well as to warp to an elevated position to find cover. New enemy units drop in from above and the player seamlessly switches ammo types to better counteract them.
Crafting will also play a large part in Mass Effect: Andromeda as well. Players will need to roam around the landscapes to try and harvest materials, very similar to what we saw in Dragon Age: Inquisition, in order to craft newer and better armor. You can watch the video above for more details.
Mass Effect Andromeda is set to release some time in March 2017 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PC. You can also check out the game’s cinematic trailer here.
