The Playstation 4’s Dualshock 4 controller came with a great new design which is certainly an improvement over its predecessor but the controller is still not without its flaws. A new model of the Dualshocker 4 controller with the product code “CUH-ZCT2U” just passed a listing on the FCC website, which we hope improves on the controller.
Probably the biggest complaint of the Dualshock 4 is the short battery life compared to the DS3. The DS3 could last you several days while I have to charge my DS4s every other day.
Check out the label of the new model below:
According to the documents posted; the new model is of the same weight, has the same sized battery and charges at the same 5V voltage as the previous iterations of the controllers that passed by the FCC. Since the FCC is a wireless certification authority, the main information we have about the controller is the wireless technology which state that the controller does have something new – the bluetooth module.
There’s also another interesting fact, the new model seems to be a full blown revision of the Dualshock 4 judging by the product code. Previous iterations of the controllers, sans the Star Wars ones for some weird reason, went with the sub code ‘ZCT1U’. This model’s code is ‘ZCT2U’ so it could very well be considered a revision by Sony internally.
We don’t know much else about the controller so don’t be put off by the exclusion of a bigger battery that many people were requesting. Sony could have improved the controller by improving the on set board or other components that we don’t know of yet. Keep posted as we’ll keep you updated about the new Dualshock 4 controller.
