With just a little over a month left until the release of the highly anticipated Horizon Zero Dawn, Guerrilla Games has now released a stunning new story trailer for the game. And if you still had any doubts about the potential of this game, this should put them to rest as well.
The trailer starts off with a visibly injured Aloy trudging through a battlefield in the aftermath of her tribe’s massacre, and contemplates how this event is “only the beginning”. What follows next is her leaving her tribe’s sacred lands to go to a place known as Meridian in an effort to learn more about her tribe’s masked killers.
We also learn that a lot of the machines Aloy will encounter on her journey are not in fact acting on their own, and are being controlled by someone who appears to be the main human antagonist of the game. These enemies are resurrecting “Ancient Machines” that have the ability to spread their corruption to others of their kind and assume control of them.
We also get to see another outside force that interacts with Aloy through a hologram, voiced by actor Lance Reddick, that apparently wants to help her in her quest. They are only referred to so far as an ” interested party”.
Horizon Zero Dawn is set for release on 28th February, 2017, exclusively on the PlayStation 4. You can learn more about the game here.
