It appears that Electronic Arts has partnered with a new studio for the development of the next game in its Titanfall franchise. The Asian studio, Nexon GT, has already begun recruiting staff specifically for the development of the sequel. In addition, preliminary R&D for the game is also well underway.
Developer Nexon GT is known for its free-to-play games like “Sudden Attack” and “Talesweaver”. More recently, it has also been involved in the development of the PC shooter Dirty Bomb. Therefore, the studio is no stranger to online shooters.
According to the source, the game is tentatively titled as “Titanfall Online”, and it is likely that the final name will be different. Though, the title does suggest that the game will feature no single-player campaign, much like its predecessor.
Details surrounding the development of this brand new Titanfall game are currently scarce, and the target platforms are also unknown at this point. However, if this ends up being a free-to-play title in the same vein as Nexon’s past projects, it is safe to assume that the game will be a PC-only title that will possibly cater specifically to Asian markets.
Update: EA has now issued an official press release regarding this new Titanfall game, which can be seen below.
