A new trademark filed in the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) seems to suggest that a new Fallout game may be underway. This information comes courtesy of NeoGAF user ekim.
The trademark’s application is under examination and does not provide any registration information, on top of which the logo also seems questionable. According to the official NICE classification, which determines the scope of protection of the trademarks, it deals with the following class of products:
- 9 – Recorded content; Computer software; Video games software.
- 16 – Art pictures; Art prints; Advertising posters; Cartoon prints; Checkbook cases; Blueprints; Computer manuals; Computer game instruction manuals; Collectable cards.
- 25 – Clothing; Footwear; Headgear.
- 41 – Education, entertainment and sport.
Discussion online has led many to speculate that Obsidian Entertainment, developers of Fallout: New Vegas, may be heading this game seeing how Bethesda Game Studios may currently be busy working on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition, and two other upcoming open-world games.
All in all, nothing is confirmed until further details are released regarding the trademark, or an official announcement is made regarding the game.
The latest game in the Fallout franchise, Fallout 4, was released on 10th November, 2015 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PC. The Xbox One and PC versions of the game currently support mods, with support for the PlayStation 4 coming soon.
