You will get to see Skirmish battles once you start the 3rd chapter of Ni no Kuni 2: The Revenant Kingdom. It basically revolves around Evan and his war against a set of rebellious troops and monsters that are roaming around the battlefield.
Skirmish battles are a fun distraction and give further incentive to Evan to build an army and take them into battlefield, even though the actual fighting is barely any complex. Ni No Kuni 2 will start off by giving Evan just two units to use in these Skirmish battles but you will gain more as your find townsfolk who are willing to join your Kingdom.
How To Control Army During Skirmish Mode In Ni No Kuni 2
The two units provided to you at first are the red swordsmen and the yellow archers, and both of them stand on either side of Evan. You can rotate the two units around by pressing down either the left or right triggers on your PS4 controller, and you will want to rotate them in the right direction so they are facing an opponent whom they can fight well against. This being said, you must remember that every different type of unit in a Skirmish battle will fight well against some units, and not so well against other types of units. For example, your red swordsmen will bode well against archer units in combat, but they’ll get killed pretty easily if they face hammer or spear units. Similarly, you will want to keep your archer units at your back, so your swordsmen or hammer units face the enemy full on at the front of your group.
How To Upgrade Your Army in Ni No Kuni 2
Upgrading your army for the Skirmish battle is actually very simple. For this you just need to head to the ‘bolster forces’ option when you open the Skirmish menu. There you will find the option to spend your Kingsguilders on purchasing makeshift upgrades for Evan’s army for the battles ahead.
You will have two options. Firstly. you can decide to spend 1,500 Kingsguilders on upgrading the overall strength of your army or you can purchase other options for cheap that can help as well. The amount of upgrades you can make depend on the number of Kingsguilders that you currently own from your Kingdom.
