Nintendo Japan has been actively trademarking several IPs in the past few days, one of them being The Last Story.
The Last Story was an action-RPG developed by Mistwalker and published by Nintendo in Europe and Japan. The game was directed by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi himself and is honestly one of my favorite games of the last console generation.
The game released in Japan in 2011 and the West in 2012 thanks to the Operation Rainfall campaign, however the series has been dormant since then. Could this new trademark registration mean some sort of remaster or even a sequel?
The Last Story was the last console game Mistwalker made with them shifting focus to Android and iOS titles like the super popular Terra Battle series. If they do decide to come back to console development, The Last Story would certainly be an option they could consider.

In addition to The Last Story, Nintendo Japan also registered a new trademark for the Wii for user in ‘video game machine’, ‘game machine controller’, ‘video game program’, ‘downloadable video game program’, ‘smartphone program’ and event hosting.
I’m just speculating here but since both these IPs were trademarked so closeby maybe Nintendo is working on some sort of Wii Virtual Console or Remaster program. What do you think? Would you like a The Last Story Remaster or Sequel? What do you think of the game? Let us know in the comments below.
