Nintendo has announced their online service for the Nintendo Switch. The pricing starts from $20 per year to upwards of $35 for the family subscription that allows multiple accounts. There are some other perks to the service including Cloud Saves and exclusive offers.
When the service will start in September 2018, around 20 NES games will be a part of the subscription that anyone will be able to access for free and play online as well. The following is the list of games that are confirmed so far.
- Donkey Kong™
- Mario Bros.™
- Super Mario Bros.™
- Balloon Fight™
- Ice Climber™
- Dr. Mario™
- The Legend of Zelda™
- Super Mario Bros.™ 3
More games will be revealed once the service is close to launch. New games will be also added regularly once the service properly launches in September.
Nintendo Switch Online Service will be the only way to access online multiplayer for Switch games, although Nintendo has stated that the requirement for online service might vary depending on games. Some third party games don’t require an online subscription, for example, on PS4 and Xbox One. The same can apply for Nintendo Switch.
The following first party games were confirmed to launch with the requirement of the Online Subscription according to Nintendo.
- Splatoon 2
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Mario Tennis Aces
- Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido
More games will start requiring the online service however details around it are murky at the moment and should clear once the launch of the service draws closer.
