Sony’s Adam Boyes took to the stage at Playstation Experience 2015 to reveal a brand new gameplay trailer for Koei Tecmo’s upcoming action title, Ni-Oh. The game was originally announced a decade ago for the PS3, and had been absent up until Sony’s Tokyo Game Show press conference this year. It is now slated to arrive on the PS4 sometime in 2016.
The debut trailer for Koei Tecmo’s Nioh can be seen in the video below.

The third-person action game is developed by none other than Team Ninja of Ninja Gaiden fame. As one should expect from the developer, Ni-Oh will feature horrifying looking enemies and challenging bosses. It follows the story of a blond-haired Samurai, the son of a Japanese lord and a Western woman in 16th-century Japan, during the Warring States period.
The PSX 2015 trailer showcases an art style that appears familiar to Capcom’s Onimusha. Meanwhile, the combat seems to be inspired by From Software’s Dark Souls series as well as Team Ninja’s own Ninja Gaiden series.
Interestingly, the game was labeled as a “console exclusive” towards the end of the trailer, hinting that it is also likely to hit the PC at some point. Whether that’s actually the case remains to be seen for now, though it certainly wouldn’t be surprising given the arrival of several Japanese titles on Steam.
We’ll keep you updated with further information on Ni-Oh from Playstation Experience as it becomes available. In the meantime, share your thoughts on the brand new trailer in the comments below.
