No Man’s Sky PS4 Frame Rate confirmed, PSVR support in doubt?

No Man's Sky

No Man’s Sky released today with players finally getting their hands on the game after waiting so long. The game’s technical specs on console including the final frame rate and resolution were never confirmed but now since people have their hands on the game we can get a clear idea of how well the game runs.

DigitalFoundary ran their usual tests on No Man’s Sky on the PS3 where they discovered that the game runs at max 30fps. They reported that on foot the frame rate is mostly solid but takes a dip when exploring in your aircraft, going down to as much as 20fps.

Considering the game isn’t that graphically intensive this could have resulted from a lack of optimization.

As far as the resolution is concerned, the game runs at 1080p on the PS4 which was expected.

The frame rate is concerning as many fans are hoping for the game to be released for PSVR as well. VR is very taxing on hardware and considering that the game can’t manage a 30fps lock while exploring, the possibility of a future addition looks bleak.

Here’s to hoping developers Hello Games get to optimizing the game further as PSVR prepares to release in October later this year.

No Man’s Sky is available now for the Playstation 4 and PC.
