No Man’s Sky has received a brand new update today for the PS4 and Xbox One. As we have covered earlier, this update was already available for PC users and it just launched for the consoles as well. This is an important update for the Xbox One users because it also carries a previous patch 1.52 that didn’t launch for them.
According to early reports, there is an issue in this update that can corrupt save files. Fortunately, there is also a way to avoid this issue as shared on reddit.
While 1.53 is active, you should NOT attempt to quit the game while not on the main menu. To avoid this issue when quitting:
- Save your game
- Wait 10-15 seconds
- Be sure save icon in lower-right screen is gone.
- DO NOT CLOSE THE APPLICATION FROM HERE. Instead, quit to the main menu through the pause menu, then close the application.
When loading the game, if your save file reads as the playtime being in the thousands to millions of hours, do not open the file.
If you get a cloud error when opening the game, and it asks you to choose from local or cloud, choose local.
Hello Games is reportedly working on a fix for this issue so it is best to avoid playing the game for now. If you do give it a chance, make sure to follow the steps listed above in order to avoid getting your save corrupted.
No Man’s Sky is available now for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. It was developed and published by Hello Games.
