Octopath Traveler is a brand new JRPG from Square Enix. It is a unique spin on the old school 16-bit JRPG games and features gorgeous 3D sprites and a fun turn-based combat system. Octopath Traveler’s success has taken both Square Enix and Nintendo with a surprise as the available stock for the game keeps selling out.
Today, the sales figure for the game were finally revealed and it turned out to be a smashing success by selling more than 1 copies worldwide within 2 weeks. This is a great result for a game that is also a new IP and doesn’t have any fan base carrying it ahead so far.
Thanks to your incredible support, #OCTOPATHTRAVELER has now shipped 1 million units globally, including #NintendoSwitch #eShop downloads. The developers at Square Enix would like to thank you for making this possible. pic.twitter.com/dSBRyPt8bl

The announcement of the game shipping 1 million copies worldwide is faster than it took Bravely Default to reach the same milestone. Both of these games were published by Nintendo while the developer was Square Enix.
Octopath is also having a great success on the digital front with the game still regularly charting in the number 1 or 2 position on the Nintendo eShop in most regions around the world. The game has continued to sell well even though it launched at a full retail price of $59.99 so it is expensive to get digitally.
Octopath Traveler is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
