Overwatch is an extremely popular team-based online first person shooter that was released on the PS4, Xbox One and PC at the end of last month. It has proven to be a surprise hit for Blizzard and has amassed more than 10 million users online.
Overwatch servers were facing issues today with logging into Battle.net and authentication of user accounts. This was confirmed by the official Blizzard Custom Support Twitter account.
We're currently investigating an issue affecting our authentication servers, which may result in failed or slow login attempts. #BlizzCS

The servers faced downtime for a couple of hours and now users are reporting that they have started working again for them. It is possible that this was a DDOS attack from a hacking group as one such hacker has claimed to be a part of such an attack.
This is not the first time for the servers to face issues as this happened last week as well. Blizzard has usually managed to resolve such issues within hours, but it might dismay some of the fans who want to play their game during the downtime.
Overwatch was released on May 24th, 2016 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. It was developed by Blizzard Entertainment and published by Activision.
