Persona 5 is currently exclusive to the PS3 and PS4. It has never been announced for any other platform, but that might change soon according to a new report.
One of the biggest announcements from The Game Awards was that Persona 5’s main protagonist, Joker, is making his way to Smash Bros. Ultimate. He will be the first DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter pack. The season pass has a total of 5 characters including the first one being Joker.
Normally, when a company promotes their game in Smash Bros. in this way, it is possible that they have plans for the IP to continue in the future. It is not always the case though, so this is why it is dubious at best to make such claims.
The rumor comes from MysticDistance, who is a known translator and has worked in the localization industry. He has been known in the past to share news about domain registered by Atlus. Atlus has kept two domains related to Persona 5. They are P5U and P5R, both of which are official domains.
According to the rumor that was shared by the user in a tweet (now deleted), he states that Persona 5 will release on the Nintendo Switch in 2019. Joker coming to Smash Bros. Ultimate was just one part of the marketing plan to launch Persona 5 with an ‘ultimate’ edition in 2019 for the Nintendo Switch. Atlus has done it in the past with games like Persona 3 Portable for PSP, Persona 4: Golden for PS Vita. It is entirely possible that they end up making Persona 5 with the definitive edition on the Nintendo Switch, and potentially the PS4 as well.
