We have known for a while that Resgun will be under a GB in size. What we haven’t known is that the exact size of the game. Housemarque has confirmed the size of the game stating it is just 500 MB.
Resogun is a PlayStation 4 exclusive that uses the GPU compute of PlayStation 4 to generate thousands of dynamic physical cubes and create a whole environment using them. The game might seem shorter in scope but the technology it utilizes is far more advanced, truly worthy of being labeled as a next generation game.
We had the opportunity to conduct an exclusive interview with the engine architect of Resogun, Sappo Halonen. He gave us an extensive insight on the technology of the game explaining the lighting system of the game along with the importance of GPU compute. According to Seppo Halonen, the lighting in Resogun is 100% deferred with SSAO, Dynamic Shadows mixed with some screen space reflections and dynamic color grading.
Resogun runs at 1080p on PlayStation 4 and with a steady 60 fps to boot. PlayStation Plus users can download Resogun for free along with Contrast on PlayStation 4. The size has been confirmed to be just 500 MB as well.
Since RESOGUN fits nicely in 0.5G (demo scene power!), what about you download and play it while your other PS4 titles are installing? #hint
