Pokemon GO might be getting Legendary Pokemon soon. These Legendary Pokemon range from classics like Mewtwo, Mew, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. However the game developer Niantic has yet to add them in any form in the game. They have been teased for a long while now and it appears that the wait is now finally over as the developer has confirmed in a new interview that two of the long requested features: Legendary Pokemon and player vs. player battle, are finally making their way to Pokemon GO in a brand new update.
This news was shared at reddit where one user has translated an interview of Mathieu de Fayet, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Niantic. In the interview the developer shared some interesting statistics and details about the future update and support plan for Pokemon GO.
Mathieu mentioned that the game is a huge success worldwide with 650 million downloads so far. It also has around 65 million active players each month. Pointing out this userbase, Mathieu talked about their plans to keep the user engagement this summer confirming that they are planning to add Legendary Pokemon and PVP to the game in a future update this summer.
“Because of the huge success, we had to delay some planned news. Now, we are working in announcing new updates for this summer (North hemisphere), like giving more value to the choice of teams, launching Legendary Pokémon and battles between the players.” said Mathieu.
“One thing which we learned with “Ingress” is that the game sustains itself if we are capable to create social interactions between the trainers, and we are working on that.”
If you are planning to catch a Legendary Pokemon or test out your skills against other players, you will have to wait for the upcoming Pokemon update that might add these features to the game.
Pokemon GO is available now for the iOS and Android.
