Long time Playstation developers Naughty Dog like the PS3 a lot, so much that they’ve been the frontrunners in churning out every last bit of power from the console. But they’re not done yet, according to The Last of Us developer Ricky Cambier the PS3 is still an “Exceptional Piece Of Hardware” even after all these years in an interview with gamesTM magazine (Issue 134) (via TheSilentChief).
Naughty Dog has been very active on the PS3, completing the whole trilogy of the critically acclaimed Uncharted series and now working on the survival horror title The Last of Us. It is still not know if The Last of Us will be the studio’s last project on the PS3 before moving on to the PS4.
It is toward the end [of the console cycle] but we are still pushing the hardware,
We bring that clear to the players and to the expectation that the PS3 is still an exceptional piece of hardware. Even at this stage we are finding new ways to push it. I think we benefit from that.
It’s just kind of fun to look for ways that we will take the tech of the hardware and take the needs of the game, and look for ways we can push [the hardware]..push it in ways we’re still not seeing in the games industry.
The Last of Us hits stores June 14th worldwide exclusively for the PS3.
