PS4 Firmware Update Version 6.02 Is Out; What Does It Do?

Sony has released a new PS4 firmware update version 6.02 today. It is available to download now and fixes one of the recent bugs that could crash the PS4.

If you have encountered a bug recently with the PS4, it is due to a message sending exploit that could lead to a soft reboot of the console. Sony confirmed that they plan to fix it with a new firmware update and it has finally released today.

The official website for the PlayStation 4 firmware lists the new version and its changelog as follow.

  • This system software update improves system performance.

Judging from what Sony said recently about a new system software update, this is likely related to the message sending exploit that was recently discovered. The fix for this exploit is included in this new firmware update that will patch the system software to version 6.02 on the PS4.
