Sony has released a surprise firmware update today for the PS4. This firmware update appears to release ahead of an alleged jailbreak exploit for the PS4 that was recently claimed to be discovered in the system software update 5.0. The patch notes don’t mention anything important thus adding more legitimacy to hackers finding an exploit with the PS4 firmware leading to Sony patching it out with this new firmware update.
If you haven’t turned on your PS4, you will be required to download this latest firmware update that will update the system software to 5.01. You won’t be able to play online or sign into PSN unless you install the firmware update so it is mandatory. The download size of the firmware update is around 357 MB.
