Randy Pitchford is “happy” about Borderlands 3 Epic Store exclusivity after Steam review bombing

Borderlands developer Gearbox Software CEO, Randy Pitchford, expressed on Twitter that he’s “happy” that publisher 2K Games decided to make Borderlands 3 Epic Store exclusive.

The expressive CEO made the claim in response to the Borderlands series getting review bombed on Steam after the announcement that Borderlands 3 will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store.

Store for 6 months. This means that PC players won’t be able to play the game on other platforms including Steam until April 2020.

The folks behind Steam, Valve, recently introduced off-topic reviews on the platform in an effort to tackle such situations.

How the system works is simple, if there’s a huge amount of negative review scores from users in unfamiliar situations they will not count towards the game’s displayed score. The negative reviews however will still be visible but as mentioned before won’t count towards the game’s overall rating on the platform.

What do you think about Pitchford’s stance on the matter? Who do you think is in the right? Let us know in the comments below.

Borderlands 3 releases later this year for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on September 13 after years of waiting. The game is the long awaited next entry in the mainline series, releasing 7 years after its predecessor, although there have been a few side games released in-between that time period.
