Ratchet and Clank: Into The Nexus announced

Remember that mysterious image that Sony had tweeted earlier? Turns out that wasn’t for a new IP at all. The picture was of Ratchet and Clank: Into The Nexus, being developed by Insomniac Games.

A PlayStation Blog post confirms this and gives more details regarding the game. The game will be coming to the PlayStation 3, both digitally and on retail, for only $29.99! No one saw that coming, right?
Also, the blog post directs us towards an IGN preview. Apparently, the lucky people at IGN knew what the teaser was, all along and have seen the game itself.

Here is a trailer of the game.

The blog post also contained various pictures, which have been compiled for you below.

The page contained details about the story.

After one of the most infamous manhunts in galactic history results in the capture of Vendra Prog, Ratchet and Clank offer to escort the dangerous criminal to the Vartax Detention Center. After a daring orbital jailbreak at the forgotten edge of the galaxy, Ratchet and Clank find themselves lost in an abandoned sector. There, in deepest space, they uncover an inter-dimensional event that threatens the universe—and forces Ratchet to decide what’s really important.

New weapons such as the Winterizer and Nether Blades will be available in the game. Clank will have a greater role to play as he can now manipulate gravity, objects and solve difficult puzzles. Players will discover new planets and unveil dark secrets.

I believed that the World’s Collide picture could mean that we would see a game that has merged two series into one. This is still a possibility as shown by the following picture, taken from Jak and Daxter.

Then again, I might be wrong. “Worlds Collide” could have a literal meaning since the game involves planets and travelling through space.
