Red Dead Redemption 2 will offer a massive open world. It is large enough to fit even the entire map of the first Red Dead Redemption and more.
In case you haven’t really kept up with the earlier leaks, there was a rumored map leak before the game was announced that showed that the complete Red Dead Redemption 1 map was a part of this new world in Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar Games are no strangers to doing it as they have done the same with Grand Theft Auto V.
Now in a new question and answer session that the Dutch website Inside Gamer had with Rockstar, it was officially confirmed that the game will feature the full world map from the first game. This original Q&A is in Dutch and it was translated by Reddit users and unlike last time, this is an authentic translation as echoed by many other native Dutch speakers in the comments section.
Q: Are Armadillo and New Austin in the game?
A: Yup! After asking Rockstar they told me the entire (!) map of Red Dead Redemption is also in this game, but that of course there are many more areas added. In the six hours I played I only got to see a small part of Blackwater, and even that was already gigantic. Six hours was not enough to see any of the other familiar places.
This theory was already speculated with the new gameplay trailer that teased footage from Armadillo, one of the towns in Red Dead Redemption 1. The comparison below is pretty clear in showing the similarity.
It appears that Red Dead Redemption 2 will not only offer new vistas and locations, but it will also give fans of the first game plenty of nostalgia by letting them visit their familiar place in this newly recreated wild west world.
In other news, Red Dead Redemption 2 copies are supposedly out in the wild, and the game might ship on 2 discs. There is also a file size listed for it that confirms 105 GB of hard disk space is required at the minimum. As for the game itself, it will be out on October 26th. You can also get a PS4 Pro bundle that features the game.
