Red Dead Redemption 2 has received an official file size listing on the Xbox Live Store confirming that it requires 89 GB of hard disk space.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a huge open world game from Rockstar Games. When it was announced that the game will launch with a PS4 Pro bundle, the box art confirmed that the total file size that is required is more than 100 GB. This caused a frenzy because it will make Red Dead Redemption 2 the largest game to ship on day one with such file size requirements.
Later, it was hinted through an alleged leaker that the file size is just 50 GB, however, it is a rumor for now so don’t take it as confirmation. Regardless, the official file size appears to be closer to 100 GB as confirmed through the Xbox Live Store listing. It lists approximately 89 GB for the file size and this listing is usually accurate for most games.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will offer 4K support for both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, so it is possible that this file size is for the upgraded consoles, which means this could include 4K textures. It is unlikely but not entirely impossible to think this will be the case. The regular PS4 and Xbox One version will likely be smaller in size if this turns out to be the case.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will launch for the PS4 and Xbox One on October 26th. The trophy list for the game was reportedly leaked online while the Red Dead Online beta is confirmed for later this November.
