Red Dead Redemption 2 Game Length Revealed, Has 65 Hours of Story Content

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to launch on October 26th and now we have an estimated game length of the game.

In a new article on Vulture based on the development of the game, Rockstar Games’ co-founder Dan Houser revealed that the game had a lot of cut content as well. There are 65 hours of story content featured in the game with motion captured cutscenes, but around 5 hours were cut. It wasn’t revealed if this game length included any optional content or side missions, or if this was just for the story mode. It is possible that it included all the major story related events even if they are optional.

This also means that Rockstar Games had to cut content from the game. There was a love interest for the main character, Arthur, at one point during the development. He also talked about some of the missions that didn’t make the cut and explained why they decided to remove them.

“We removed a mission on a train where you had to deal with bounty hunters, because it was fun at first, but then it wasn’t. This part of the process is always about compromise and horse trading. Everyone always loses bits of the game they love.”

Rockstar Games are known for their lengthy games. The average play time for Gran Theft Auto V sits at between 25 to 30 hours and this is mainly for the story content. If you play the game’s side content or Grand Theft Auto Online, it will add several more hours to the game’s length.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out on October 26th for the PS4 and Xbox One. It is reportedly 89 GB on the Xbox One while the PS4 version is rumored to be smaller. The trophy list has also leaked online giving us a glimpse at some of the content featured in the game.
