After it was originally announced back in October at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2016 in Las Vegas, we now finally have a release date for the much awaited Stormblood Expansion for the game.
The announcement was made during the official Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival event in Tokyo, where it was revealed that the Stormblood Expansion would be arriving on 20th June, 2017. The official Final Fantasy XIV Twitter account also tweeted it out.
Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood is the second major expansion for the game, and will include a “full standalone game’s worth of content”. It will introduce new dungeons, new Primals, high-end raids and even a fourth residential area which is tied to the game’s main storyline.
The expansion will also release alongside update 4.0. This will not only revamp the game’s combat system, allowing Skills to be categorized in a way that makes it easier to switch between jobs, but will also introduce much needed features such as an expansion of inventory space for players. It will also introduce two new jobs, while raising the level cap from 60 to 70.
Sadly though, this expansion will also mark the end of support for the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIV.
