Early in the game you’ll come across the Resident Evil 2 Leon’s Desk Dial Lock Puzzle, that is honestly really hard to solve without a lot of looking around.
A little bit of background on the Resident Evil 2 Leon’s Desk Dial Lock Puzzle before we get started. Its supposed to be Leon’s first day at work when the T-Virus infection strikes Raccoon City. As a sort of a welcoming present two of his superiors put in a gift inside the desk and locked it with two dial locks, one for each of them.
Its kind of sad really when you look around the room, his seniors also put up “Welcome Leon” banners in the office. The sheer reality of the situation is really amplified in the demo.
Resident Evil 2 Leon’s Desk Dial Lock Puzzle Location
The puzzle is located in the West Office on the 1st Floor of the Raccoon City Police Department. Do not confuse this with the S.T.A.R.S Office, the West Office is for normal officers.
Leon’s desk is at the end of the desk from where you enter the room for the first time, just in front of the exist to the Main Hall.
Resident Evil 2 Leon’s Desk Dial Lock Puzzle’s solution is hinted in a note on his desk, which asks Leon to do some detective work. His seniors task him to uncover the names of his superior officers on all the desks in the room and use their initials as the code. This is honestly not easy considering how dark the room is and those pesky Zombies keep coming alive.

Lucky for you we have the solution for you right here so no need to waste you time. Since there are two dial locks on Leon’s desk you’ll need to use two codes as mentioned earlier, they are:
NED for the lock on the left side of the desk
MRG for the lock on the right
That will open up the desk, in which waits for you a neat little reward.
Resident Evil 2 Leon’s Desk Dial Lock Puzzle Reward
Leon’s desk has a High-Capacity Magazine for his handgun called the Matilda. The magazine doubles the capacity of the Matilda from 12 bullets to 24 and is essential if you use it with a stock. Do note this reward is for when you’re playing as Leon.
When playing as Claire and you decide to loot poor Leon’s gift, you’ll get a Speed Loader (SLS) for her Browning Revolver that greatly increases reload speeds. Honestly the Speed Loader is a god send and you should go for it from the get go.
