Resident Evil 2 Remake Could Be Finally Happening As Capcom Asks Fans For Support

It appears that remakes are popular for this generation. Final Fantasy VII Remake was officially confirmed at this year’s E3 and it was considered one of the biggest announcement of the show. Capcom might have seen the love and attention received by remakes and is finally asking the fans for options on how to remake Resident Evil 2, which has been a long demand of the fans.

In a post by Capcom R&D Division 1 on the official page of Resident Evil, they asked the fans to give them ideas on how to approach a possible remake of Resident Evil 2.

Hello Resident Evil fans!
This is Capcom R&D Division 1!

First off, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to all Resident Evil fans, for your passion, enthusiasm and continued support for the Resident Evil brand.

Enthusiasm for a Resident Evil 2 Remake is something we’ve been hearing from you over the years, and has drawn some recent attention in the media.

However, as the team owns the RE brand, we’re not certain how we feel about this approach, and would like to ask your honest and frank opinion about the “Resident Evil 2 Remake” and what the brand identity is supposed to be about?

The response to this post was overwhelming with more than 10 thousand comments by the fans. It was followed by another official post by Capcom thanking the fans for their support. Judging from the post, it appears that Capcom has finally acknowledged the demand of fans and are looking into ways to remake Resident Evil 2.

Hi Resident Evil fans!
This is H from Capcom R&D Division 1!

I was told by my boss to check out the post by “R&D Division 1″ on the Resident Evil Facebook page, and THIS IS AMAZING….

Thank you so much for your passion and continued support for Resident Evil brand!

He was also telling me…“can YOU make a worth seeing game to answer these fans full of passion???”

This order actually makes me SUPER excited…!!!

Resident Evil 2 is perhaps the most popular game in the series. It was the first one in the series to introduce different endings for each of the characters with different scenarios. It was directed by Hideki Kamiya who now works at Platinum Games.

Capcom is currently working on a Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster and they have released Resident Evil 1 Remake HD Remaster, which proved to be a major success selling more than 1 million copies on all platforms.
