VITA TV has been out in Japan for a while now. We haven’t heard of a US and EU release though. From the looks of it, according to comments posted by Guerrilla Cambridge Senior Producer, Mark Green, it appears that the console might be arriving early next year.
The VITA TV might not have been announced for the West but it got plenty of positive reception after its original announcement. It seemed affordable, cheap and also worked greatly with the PlayStation 4. The VITA TV might have not got any official release date window yet but a Western release was never discounted.
Speaking in an interview to Eurogamer, Sony Japan Exec Masayasu Ito said “Of course we are thinking of launching it in the US and Europe, But when it comes to the timing, we’ll have to watch the environment and identify what other services are available in the US and Europe and whether we’ll have to add other services.”
So while there was no release date, Guerrilla Cambridge Senior Producer, Mark Green might have accidentally leaked the launch window for VITA TV in EU and US. According to Mark Green, they will be working on a patch to get support of Killzone Mercenary on VITA TV in the first few months of next year.
Also in the first few months of 2014 will be Update 6, in which we’re working towards continued refinements and adding support for playing Killzone Mercenary on Vita TV.
The thing is, he is talking about adding support to a device that has no presence(as of yet) in US and EU. So it can be assumed that he might have known the release date of VITA TV in the West and hence he is working on a patch to get the support for Killzone Mercenary at launch.
