Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is one of the first game that was announced with Xbox One X improvements by Microsoft. The game will take advantage of the hardware power offered by the Xbox One X to render at 4K resolution while delivering smooth 30 fps.
Monolith’s VP of creative Micahel de Plater was recently interviewed by Geoff Keighley for YouTube Live. Micahel was asked about the scope of the game and how it compares to the original Middle-Earth. He stated that it is hard to give an accurate estimate about the open world featured in Shadow of War since it is now divided in multiple regions. The game is bigger than Shadow of Mordor in ‘mutliple dimensions’ and will offer 4 to 5 times more content than what was included in Shadow of Mordor.
Micahel was also asked to comment on the hardware advantage offered by the Xbox One X. He praised the efforts made by his team that is utilizing their own Firebird Engine to power the game. In term of resolution, he reaffirmed 4K resolution for Xbox One X with a consistent and smooth 30 FPS. He also assured that the game is being optimized according to each platform’s strength so PC and PS4 will get their own specific optimization compared to Xbox One.
Middle Earth: Shadow of War is out on October 10th for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
