Shenmue 3 Producer Teases Release Date In 2018 And ‘Other Surprises’

Shenmue 3 was a Kickstarter project that started with a bang with the reveal at the Sony’s Legendary E3 2015 press conference. It was a game that has been long demanded by fans and the series creator Yu Suzuki is leading the project for the PS4 and PC.

While there hasn’t been any major trailer so far that has showcased the game in a detailed way, the producer for Shenmue 3 has now hinted at a potential release for the game in 2018 as well as teased ‘other surprises’ which if rumors are to be believed, can be the HD remasters for the first 2 Shenmue games.

Shenmue 3 was perhaps one of the last major Kickstarter once the platform came into the spotlight. Both Bloodstained and Shenmue 3 were a part of the Kickstarter boom in 2015 and have yet to be released. The former is targeting a 2018 release date while the latter hasn’t received any confirmed release year until recently.

Shenmue 3 was confirmed to be in development for the PS4 and PC. The game was originally a SEGA exclusive while the publisher still retains the right to the IP. It was considered one of the most expensive game when it was released in 1999 for the SEGA Dreamcast. The game basically redefined open world games of its time.
