Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition Gameplay Trailer Released Along With Confirmed Launch Date

We all remember Square Enix’s Hong-Kong-Styled-GTA-Game aka Sleeping Dogs. The game was highly acclaimed, not only due to it’s story line but also because of its gameplay and performance. Well, if you really loved that game but you can not play it anymore as you upgraded your console, then you will be happy to hear that a ‘Definitive Version’ will soon make its way on the Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4 (and PC!!).

Besides updated models and textures, it would include all the available DLCs including the story-extending episode titled “Year of the Snake” and horror-themed add-on “Nightmare In North Point”.

According to the official statement issued by the company,

SLEEPING DOGS: DEFINITIVE EDITION is a re-mastered update of the critically acclaimed SLEEPING DOGS which released in 2012. The capabilities of today’s hardware have truly brought the vibrant Hong Kong experience to life. In addition, a total of 24 pieces of downloadable content have been integrated into the gaming experience

“It was an exciting opportunity for the original development team to be able revisit a game we’re so passionate about.

We’re giving old and new fans a lot reasons to pick up the game, as we’ve gone beyond just increasing resolution and running at 1080p.  We listened to the fans: we tuned gameplay, we added to the ambience of Hong Kong, increased audio fidelity and pushed the visuals further than we could on the previous generation of consoles.”

Today, the official gameplay trailer was released to satisfy our eyes and they are certainly an upgrade over the last-gen consoles. You can check out the trailer here.

The graphics are certainly impressive and a definitive version would no doubt make Square Enix some cash. However, I am a little confused about a Definitive Edition for PC because it already benefited from better resolution and models as compared to its counter part. So the expectations of the PC base would be a little higher. But if they can manage to blow away the PC gamers (who have already played the game on Ultra settings) then this would be really impressive. Only time will tell if they can achieve this!

The game is scheduled to be released on 10th October. Head over to the official site in the mean time
